Earth Day 2019

Earth Day 2019

Due to human activity, the Earth is seeing a rapid decline in the balance of nature, leading to the greatest rate of extinction since the time of the dinosaurs. Human factors like climate change, deforestation, poaching and trafficking, pollution, pesticides, unsustainable agriculture practices all contribute and we are seeing global destruction on an unprecedented level.

Fortunately, the rates of extinction can be slowed, but only if we work together to build a united global movement of consumers, voters, educators, faith leaders, and scientists to demand immediate action.

Earth Day 2019’s theme, Protect Our Speciesfocuses on:

  • Educating and raising awareness about the accelerating rate of extinction of millions of species, how it’s caused and what it means for the future.
  • Achieving major policy victories that protect broad groups of species as well as individual species and their habitats.
  • Building and activating a global movement that embraces nature and its values.
  • Encouraging individual actions such as adopting plant based diet and stopping pesticide and herbicide use.
